Don't Blindly Spend & Attend! – Know Before You Go

BEFORE investing any more time & money on the showase circuit, you need to:

  • Know what coaches require.
  • Know where you stand.
  • Know what to address.

If you don't, at best, you’re just wasting money.

At worst, you might unknowingly be paying just to have coaches rule you out.

Don’t be in the dark and don't go it alone. Educate yourself and have a plan.

Understand the process and work with the system...not against it...while there's still time!

Quickly establish whether you’re on track, what adjustments you might need to make AND, finally, develop a plan to give yourself the best odds to play at the next level.

We drastically simplify the process.

Determine Physical Type & Level of Physical Development

We'll show you exactly how to use the METRICS FORMULA to determine where your metrics need to be for your size and how they're influenced by mechanics and strength. Undersized players "make it" all the time but they have less margin for error. Knowing the METRICS FORMULA helps you hack the recruiting process.

Determine Your Relative Metrics Based on Your Specific Situation

Easily determine if you're above or below the curve with the METRICS MATRIX. We'll show you which swing metrics matter and the ideal ranges of actual D1 players most similar to you (when they were your age & size) so you'll know exactly where your swing metrics need to be based on your age and physical maturity...and even your position.

Determine How Your Mechanics Impact Your Metrics & Potential

See in an instant how your swing impacts your metrics, hitting potential and likelihood of improvement with our simplified mechanical evaluations based on easily identifiable visual cues at key points in the swing that make it crystal clear.

Simple, step-by-step checklist with tons of easy-to-follow video breakdowns that help you avoid confusion. All you need is a side-angle video from your phone.

Why It Matters

"You can't get to where we want to go if we don't know where we're starting from and don't have a roadmap to get there."

The evaluation is STEP ONE.

  • We’re not stressing about the right physical training program.
  • We’re not obsessing about reaching arbitrary “magic numbers” with metrics.
  • We’re not fixing your swing at this point.

We’re just creating a STARTING POINT.

In the early stages of recruiting, coaches are going to judge your hitting potential on these 3 factors:

  • What you look like [size & level of physical development]
  • What you do [metrics & measurables]
  • How you do it [mechanics]

Once you understand these 3 Pillars…and how they work together…you start to unlock or hack the recruiting process.

When you're able to properly self-evaluate, a path forward begins to emerge.

You're able to stop wasteful spending and, instead, re-direct limited time, energy and money into the right things.

Your "next steps" become clearer...

  • You'll know what to focus on: Strength or Mechanics. Or both.
  • You'll become much more selective about showcases and ONLY attend when you know you’ll be putting your best foot forward.

QUICK TIP:

ONLY use showcases to Verify & Amplify once you already have a good idea where you stand.

DON'T go just to learn your metrics. This self-evaluation course + bat sensor is way cheaper.

There’s really only 2 ways to improve your metrics:

1) Getting stronger

2) Improving your mechanics

If neither of those things happened since your last showcase - DON’T GO to the next one!

Who is the

2-Hour Eval For?

Need a super simple process to quickly see if you’re on track as a D1 hitting prospect?

Are you a High School age player who has attended showcases but aren’t receiving interest or feedback from schools and aren’t sure why (and want to improve their odds)?

Are you a High School age player who hasn’t attended a showcase yet and have no idea where they stack up (but want to have a good idea so they can put their best foot forward)?

Are you a parent who wants to make sure they are making the best use of their time, money and resources to support their kids' goal of playing at the next level?

Are you a parent of a middle school age player looking to get an early start and learn what coaches are looking for?

About D1 Baseball Plan

We help players and parents go from confused to clear & confident about what D1 baseball coaches are actually looking for, so they can:

1. Get a better idea where they stand before wasting anymore time & money.

2. Understand & recognize potential deficiencies & develop a plan to address them.

3. Gain a competitive advantage in their quest for limited D1 opportunities.

Our mission is to pull back the curtain on the player evaluation process, making it so straight-forward & simplified that ANYONE can follow along, assess ability & see where a player stacks up as a D1 hitting prospect.

Our goal is to get useful, actionable and inexpensive information into the hands of as many players and families as possible and intervene early enough to improve a player’s odds of playing D1 baseball.

You can’t get where you want to go if you don’t know where you’re starting from and you don't have a road-map to get there. For players and parents who feel lost, D1 Baseball Plan is dedicated to helping them navigate the process to maximize an already incredibly short recruiting window - at an incredibly high level of competition.

D1 Baseball Plan was founded by John Lee, a former Major League scout who scouted for three American League teams over the course of a decade and is a graduate of the Major League Scouting Bureau Scout School.

John also founded and operated a baseball showcase event & website company in the Midwest with an alumni of over 300 players going on to college baseball, plus several eventual pro baseball players in just under 3 years

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the 2-hour self-evaluation work?

This self-evaluation is designed to be completed in less than 2 hours.

It's a simple 3-Step process based on how scouts and college coaches actually evaluate players.

We've drastically simplified the process so ANYONE can make an evaluation in about an hour, regardless of their experience.

The process is based on what we refer to as the 3 Pillars of Evaluating.

1) What you look like [size & level of physical development]

2) What you do [metrics & measurables]

3) How you do it [mechanics]

The course quickly guides you through the entire process with tons of actual D1 players examples, step-by-step breakdowns of player scenarios for age/grade, size/level of physical development, ideal metrics ranges and simplified mechanical breakdown (w/ easy to follow checklists) made crystal clear by video breakdowns that remove the guesswork.

Just simple and actionable information that allows you to quickly know where you stand… not a complex 90-hour course you’ll never get through.

You'll begin to set-up a recruiting plan almost immediately.

I don't have a background in evaluating players. Can I make an accurate evaluation with this program?

Absolutely, yes.

Right now you’re probably thinking, “I don’t have a high level coaching or scouting background. How could I possibly know what’s required and where my kid stacks up?”

Fair point. Like me, D1 coaches can quickly tell if a player has D1 ability. We’ve logged our 10,000+ hours of evaluating baseball players. Our mental database of players has been honed.

We’ve seen it so many times, we know what it looks like.

This course is designed to drastically shortcut the process and allow anyone to instantly see if a player is on track, with the right context and comparison.

With an understanding of the 3 Pillars of Evaluating, a little context on age/level of physical development impact with regards to metric benchmarks, and our easy-to-follow mechanical evaluation process, ANYONE can get a quick snapshot on a player's potential.

Are there "Magic Numbers" to reach with swing metrics?

Yes and no. Context is key.

D1 Caliber HS seniors typically reach low-90s bat speed and low-70's exit velocity. But what were their metrics as physically underdeveloped HS freshman or sophomores?

Think in terms of the direction your metrics are trending and focus on being in the appropriate range for your age/year & level of physical development (and your position).

Do I need a bat sensor like blast motion or diamond kinetics?

No. But it's a great idea to have one.

Metrics aren’t everything but they are indicators of ability early in the process of identifying potential D1 caliber players. And verifying metrics with a relatively inexpensive bat sensor certainly make it easier to understand if you’re on track in an area that was previously less tangible for players & parents.

Follow the metrics formula:
Size/Strength + Mechanics = Your Metrics.

With the 2-Hour Eval, you'll be able to accurately evaluate how a player's mechanics should impact their metrics given their level of physical development for their age/grade.

From the course, you'll know exactly where your swing metrics need to be based on your age and physical maturity...and even your position.

Combined with our simplified mechanical evaluations based on easily identifiable visual cues at key points in the swing that make it crystal clear, you'll see in an instant how your swing impacts your metrics.

With the size/strength and mechanical evaluation you'll have a clear idea if you're likely to meet, exceed or fall short of those ideal metrics ranges.

But, again, confirming those metrics with a relatively inexpensive bat sensor is a great idea and will really help solidify the accuracy of the evaluation and give useful feedback for player development.

How does my evaluation help set up a recruiting plan?

You can't get to where we want to go if we don't know where we're starting from and don't have a road-map to get there.

You need a starting point.

To maximize your odds, you must:

1) Know what's required
2) Know where you stand
3) Know what to address

If you learn the requirements early enough, learn to self-assess realistically…you’ll have more time, better information and an actual game plan to [course-correct] get you where you want to go.

You'll waste less time, energy and money over the typical strategies of blindly spending & attending showcases or just waiting for coaches to magically find you.

You'll be able to re-direct that limited time, energy and money into the right things.

Your "next steps" become clearer.

You'll know what to focus on: Strength or Mechanics. Or both.

You'll become much more selective about showcases and ONLY attend when you know you’ll be putting your best foot forward.

You'll have a framework or blueprint to follow, allowing you to focus on schools that make sense.

How long do I have access to the 2-Hour Eval and bonuses?

You'll have lifetime access to all training in the D1 Hitting 2-Hour Eval course, including all bonuses, checklists and worksheets.

Is there a refund policy?

Yes. We offer a 30-day "no questions asked" 100% refund.

If, after completing the course, you don’t have a more clear understanding of what coaches are looking for in hitters at the D1 level, a general of where you stack up based on your specific situation (your age & level of physical development, your position, etc.) and a better idea of what you may need to address to be considered Division 1 caliber, we’ll give you a full refund - no questions asked.

Only 1 in 47 High School players go on to play D1

Arm Yourself with the Right Information to Compete for Limited Opportunities.

D1 coaches are looking for evidence of potential.

Evidence that a player has physical tools that will translate to the next level.

They’re looking to check off boxes.

So come prepared with evidence.

Know where you're at before you go to showcases and camps.

Make it easy for them to check those boxes.

The odds are stacked against players as it is.

Only 1 in 47 HS players go on to D1.

Even less receive scholarships or meaningful playing time.

Plenty of kids work hard, are competitive, are good students, etc. These are tie-breakers that only come into play after it’s been determined that a player has D1 ability.

As parents, with so much on the line, there’s pressure to get it right.

We want our kids to have the best opportunities.

And we feel the financial strain or travel ball, lessons, the showcase circuit, etc.

We want to get this right, while there's still time.

Right now you’re probably thinking, “I don’t have a high level coaching or scouting background. How could I possibly know what’s required and where my kid stacks up?”

Metrics aren’t everything but they are indicators of ability early in the process of identifying potential D1 caliber players. And they certainly make it easier to understand if you’re on track in an area that was previously less tangible for players & parents.

If you have a bat sensor, great! Those metrics lend context and some certainty to the evaluation.

But you don’t need a sensor to get an idea where you stand. By following the 3 Pillar evaluation process, you’ll see what range your metrics need to be in and how your level of physical development and your mechanics impact them.

You’ll start to see how the 3 pillars connect and how strength gains and mechanical improvements change your outlook. At this point a plan starts to emerge.

Just our super simple process… You know your age, height and weight already… use that information to figure out what metric range you should be in… verify your metrics with a relatively inexpensive bat sensor… If you’re below the range for your specifics, you now know there's likely a mechanical issue holding you back… [with the course you can] easily identify those mechanical issues with our evaluation process so you can drastically improve your odds.

If you meet or exceed the benchmark range for your specifics, that’s great. You can confirm that you’re on track and begin to execute a plan [and drill down on defensive value, etc]. With our process, you’ll also be able to identify other areas of improvement. For instance, while you may be generating adequate bat speed, a mechanical evaluation might reveal an opportunity to clean up your path that will give coaches more certainty that you will be able to consistently apply your bat speed against D1 pitching.
